In May we were set to go on a Mediterranean cruise. My husband had won the trip through work and we were very excited. However, it was just announced that due to the poor economy, it would be inappropriate to have a trip of this kind. Wow. That sucks.
I get it, I really do. It still is a bit disappointing.

But he won it... I get it but he did his part, is there a cancellation prize?
BUMMER! Maybe they will compensate him other way? I hope!
Frau and PLD- there was cash compensation that will most likely go towards...bills :)
Damn. Talk about having the water yanked out from underneath you!
Cruising is my absolute favorite vacation. It is truly the only time MOM doesn't have to do anything. Even at a beach/condo, I still end up cooking, laundry, picking up etc...cruising I can eat then eat some more.
I read about a lady that took her retirement income and booked back to back cruises and has been cruising for years. Cheaper than a retirement home and WAYYY more fun!
Sounds like a plan to me!
WOW----what a bummer!!!!
I don't understand why he can't go if he won it fair and square...don't get it- yes everyone is in the dumps but why not allow one person to have a little bit of sunshine?
Oh no! I was so excited for us to be planning our cruises together. I am glad they still gave you some sort of compensation
How terribly disappointing!
Although faced with the alternative in today's economy - "no job"... none-the-less, I'd be rather "bumbed" too
Hey it could be worse!! You could be Ruth Madoff!!!
That is a bummer... even if they gave a compensation it still is disappointing.
That totally sucks. We lost two trips because of our favorite insurance company going into receivership--one to Atlantis in the Bahamas and next year DOTR had already qualified to go to southern Spain. DOTR is highly motivated by trips--if they gave us the money, we'd never take a cool trip like that, we'd get a new driveway or something.
I feel your pain.
