Ok, so my friend here...

You may recognize her from our book club portrait, the hat look familiar?
She is a dear friend, or I guess from this pic-a deer friend? LOL

Anyway, she is also one of my wilder friends, so much fun.
And speaking of wilder... the video below stars her son, Chris Wylde.
Not only do they look alike- they are alike!
Chris is a very talented actor that is really hitting his stride and you will be seeing a lot of him as time goes on. In fact, the Taco Bell commercials were the hit of the Super Bowl!
Any of her friends that see this video?
It is VERY obvious where Chris gets his talent from!

It's been said...

That our book club is,
"a drinking club with a reading problem!"
Do you agree?
I love us!

I think it's time for a change...

For about three years I've gone with the very predictable pink and green.
At national draw it is what sets me apart.
Once, I forgot my green tablecloths-well, brown doesn't cut it.

Although this is the booth that Bruce Springsteen came into and checked out my leather bracelets...
i do love how bright and pretty the set-up is.
Two years ago at The Lobs For Love tournament.
Loved this set-up as I combined with other vendors, splitting the cost and set-up.

The Sandstorm lacrosse tournament in Indio, California
This was another tournament where I shared a big tent with many vendors.
This was Lax for the Cure- an awesome tournament where I was able to sell a lot, have a lot of fun, and watch my daughter play!

So, here is the question- if I were to change my color combo, instead of pink and green, what would you recommend?

Happy Birthday Cutie-pie!

Love this kid. Hope she has a special and happy birthday!
Love you!

Pretty afternoon ditty:

There is a house built out of stone
Wooden floors, walls and window sills...
Tables and chairs worn by all of the dust...
This is a place where I don't feel alone
This is a place where I feel at home...

Cause, I built a home
for you
for me.....

So, I still feel the same way.

Here's the definition of a passive-aggressive person:

Passive–aggressive behavior, a personality trait, is passive, sometimes obstructionist resistance to following through with expectations in interpersonal or occupational situations. It is a personality trait marked by a pervasive pattern of negative attitudes and passive, usually disavowed resistance in interpersonal or occupational situations.
It can manifest itself as procrastination, resentment, sullenness, or deliberate/repeated failure to accomplish requested tasks.
One of the things I am most proud about my children is that they are NOT passive-aggressive.
If something is bothering them or if they are unhappy with a situation they voice their opinion or they get over it.
There is no sulking, game playing, or manipulation.
I am thankful about that because I have no room in my life for those type people. I avoid  and ignore them.
You want my attention or have a problem with me? Tell me.
I am not a mind reader and do not have the patience for the passive-aggressive type who can't say what is bothering them but instead put energy into game playing, manipulations, and gossiping.
So, for those types?
Stay away from me.

This time of year...

Most of you remember the story of how our dog lost his leg, if not I tell the story in 4 installments,
here:

Anyway, I always think about what happened at this time of the year because this is the time of year it happened. All the ice and snow are reminders. The way the cold air smells and feels triggers memories of the incident. I've been told that since it was such a traumatic event that the memories are imprinted more heavily in my brain and I believe that. I know that worse things have happened and can happen and that there was a happy ending in this case. I think because the incident was so unnatural, unusual, surreal, and strange is why it stays so fresh in my brain.

What do you think?

Lafayette women's lacrosse 2011

It all starts this weekend with a scrimmage at Rutgers.
20 minute halves with 5 minute half time and 5 minutes between games.

10:00-10:45 LaSalle vs. Lafayette

10:50- 11:35 Lafayette vs. Rutgers

11:40- 12:25 Drexel vs. Rutgers

12:30- 1:15 LaSalle vs. Drexel

1:20- 2:05 LaSalle vs. Rutgers

2:10- 2:55 Lafayette vs. Drexel

It's my girl's last year and I know she has lots of goals for herself and her team.
A lot has happened these last four years. Freshman year she was out due to stress fractures in her femurs. Junior year she was out with a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus.
This year she is rehabbed and stronger than ever. She was voted a captain by her team mates and coaches.
She is physically and mentally ready!  (as of 2/8, it looks like she may have the beginning of stress fractures-bummer! But, if she rests for a week or two she will be fine. She is VERY bummed though.)

Thanks Father Charlie!

I was at a meeting at Church and our priest, Father Charlie, quoted a saying that wasn't religious but really resonated with me and I would like to share it.

"To deny a compliment is to seek it twice."

Example:

Friend- "Patty, I LOVE your curly hair!"

Me- " Oh, are you kidding? it is horrible!"

Friend- "No, really. It makes you look so young!"

The right thing to say when complimented?
 "Thank you."

Thinking about getting a dog...

Here I am with my first dog, Nicky.
We have been animal free for a few years now. That, after thirteen years of two dogs, a cat, lizards and countless fish.

I cannot lie. It has been nice not having to run home from where ever I am, midday, to walk or feed the animals. We no longer spend a small fortune to board the dogs when we are on vacation...

However, I do miss having a dog. Our last two dogs were adopted. I do believe in rescue animals, but this time I want to start with a puppy, never really had one. ( as an adult)
I know I have written about this before, but we had construction, etc.
Now, I feel as though we are about ready. I want to get a breed that goes with our lifestyle now and in a few years when we are childless.

Any suggestions?
