fair isle sweaters-everything old is new again

Yup, that was me in the late 1970's. Fair isle sweater, t-neck, jeans and clogs. It was my winter uniform. I am seeing Fair isle sweaters again with a twist. The top picture is fair isle 2008, the bottom is too but more old school, Which do you prefer?

My mom is a master knitter. I have lots of fair isle sweaters and love them. I prefer #2 and have a similar one (knitted by mom of course) PS I did not inherit her knitting skills. The best I can do is a scarf and those wonderful kitchen dish cloths. They last forever BTW and are great mindless activity.

Ina,
You are so lucky. I LOVE fair isle sweaters and that your Mom knitted yours makes them even more valuable. I did think you would prefer the top one... I guess I figured it would go with the tory Burch duck shoes and the Burberry coat! LOL
You are a traditionalist and a fashionista!
Lecia, I picture you on your beach with a big Irish sweater!
Frau, I will not contribute to your addictions!
