The Frau, 1980's style
Wow. Here we were at Alta. We were long and thin and so were our skis.
I remember we all used to wear the one piece ski suits and you really couldn't wait until the last minute to go to the bathroom...
I'm sure I remember that back then we would take the SLC city bus, with its ski racks on the side, up from the valley, bright and early in the morning and then take the last bus down the canyon at the end of the day.
We would pack our lunch and it would be all squished in our jacket pockets. ( too cheap to get a locker)
These days? We wait until the first morning traffic is done, getting up there around 9 or 10 am.
Mid day we have a long leisurely lunch and then are back out until 3 or 4pm. ( got to beat the traffic down)
The difference? When we were young we could ski non stop, all day. Now we gots to rest our old bones!
When we were young we could barely afford the lift ticket, let alone
buying lunch.
Now? Sometimes we pack a lunch because we can bring healthier fare than is offered in the lodge OR sometimes it is just easier to buy lunch- if we are at Deer Valley- we always buy! (Good food there)
So here we were some 30 years later, still enjoying our time skiing AND being together!
